Explore the classic highlights of Northern Vietnam on this 4-day journey combining Hanoi’s cultural landmarks with an unforgettable overnight cruise in Halong Bay. Discover the capital’s historic sites, lively Old Quarter and distinctive food culture before sailing among the limestone islands and emerald waters of the UNESCO-listed bay.

Start in Hanoi with visits to Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ba Dinh Square, Ngoc Son Temple, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter. Enjoy local favourites including Pho or Banh Mi, Hanoi-style egg coffee and Cha Ca grilled fish.

Continue to Halong Bay for an overnight cruise experience featuring Titop Island, Sung Sot Cave and Luon Cave. Enjoy kayaking or rafting, a cooking class, sunset views, onboard dining and evening activities before returning to Hanoi for departure.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1Day 1: Arrive Hanoi – City Tour (L/D)

Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with Hanoi specialities such as Pho or Banh Mi.

Begin your Hanoi city tour with visits to:

Tran Quoc Pagoda
Ba Dinh Square
Ngoc Son Temple
Hanoi Old City Gate
Train Street
Hoan Kiem Lake
St. Joseph’s Cathedral
Hanoi Opera House
Hanoi Old Quarter and the 36 Ancient Streets

Enjoy a cup of Hanoi-style egg coffee before dinner at a local restaurant, featuring traditional Cha Ca grilled fish. Transfer to the hotel for check-in and overnight stay.

Day 2Day 2: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B/L/D)

After breakfast, meet the driver at the hotel lobby at approximately 8:30–8:45 AM and travel by limousine van to Tuan Chau International Cruise Port via the Hai Phong expressway.

On arrival, complete the check-in procedure at the cruise lounge before boarding Amanda Cruise. Enjoy a welcome drink and cold towel, then check into your cabin as the cruise departs Tuan Chau Marina and begins its journey through Halong Bay.

Enjoy lunch onboard while cruising towards Luon Cave and Titop Island.

In the afternoon, transfer by tender to Titop Island. You may hike to the summit for panoramic views over Halong Bay or enjoy swimming in the clear water.

Continue to Sung Sot Cave, one of the bay’s largest and most impressive caves, known for its striking rock formations.

Return to the cruise for a sunset party and cooking class. Learn to prepare Vietnamese fresh spring rolls and enjoy your own creation. Happy Hour is available between approximately 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM.

Enjoy a gala dinner on the sundeck, weather permitting. In the evening, relax on deck or join onboard activities such as herbal foot bath, bamboo dancing, the “Footsteps of Heritage” fashion show and squid fishing. Drinks at Sky Bar and massage services are available at additional cost.

Day 3Day 3: Luon Cave – Halong Bay – Hanoi (B/L)

Start the day with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck, followed by a light breakfast of coffee, tea, cake and fruit.

Return to your cabin and prepare for the Luon Cave visit. At Luon Cave, enjoy kayaking or rafting among the dramatic limestone rock formations.

Back onboard, relax in your cabin, enjoy the complimentary herbal foot bath, sunbathe on the sundeck, take photos of Halong Bay or shop for souvenirs.

Place your luggage outside the cabin before check-out. Enjoy an early lunch buffet onboard, then arrive at Tuan Chau Marina at approximately 11:00 AM.

Board the limousine van and return to Hanoi.

Day 4Day 4: Depart Hanoi (B)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and free time for your own activities before the scheduled transfer to Noi Bai International Airport for departure.

 Verified Miami, SUPER host We have done a private tour going to: HOA LU TEMPLE - MUA CAVE - TRANG AN Miami was our lovely tour guide. Her English was excellent and clear. She hosting us in the perfect possible way. We had a late arrival the day before and left us to rest during the 2,5 hour drive.  Verified Perfect Ninh Binh day with Hai — Hoa Lu, Hang Mua & Trang An We did a private day tour with Hai covering Hoa Lu, Hang Mua Cave, and Trang An, and it was an excellent day. Hai was punctual, easy to talk to, and very well organized. At Hoa Lu he explained the history of the ancient capital clearly without making it feel like a lecture. At Hang Mua he paced the climb well, gave us time for photos at the viewpoint, and kept the visit comfortable. Trang An was the highlight — the boat ride through the caves and temples was beautiful, and Hai handled the timing and logistics smoothly so we didn’t feel rushed. What stood out most was how personal the day felt. Hai adjusted the schedule to us, made practical suggestions, and was patient and professional from start to finish. If you want to see Hoa Lu, Hang Mua, and Trang An in one day with a reliable private guide, we highly recommend Hai. We would book him again.

Are there any age restrictions for this tour?

We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old to join the tour. Group members aged 16-17 years old are welcome to join the tour but only with a family member that will act as their guardian whilst on tour. Aside from that, no age requirements at all!
