Discover Hanoi’s historic charm and the magnificent seascapes of Halong Bay on this 5-day journey. Explore the capital’s key cultural landmarks, including the Ho Chi Minh Complex, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter, before embarking on an overnight Halong Bay cruise.

Sail through the bay’s limestone scenery, visit Surprising Cave and Titop Island, kayak around Luon Cave, and enjoy onboard activities including a sunset party, cooking class and squid fishing.

With free time on arrival, after returning from the cruise and before departure, this programme offers a relaxed balance of guided sightseeing and personal exploration.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1Day 1: Arrive Hanoi

Overnight in Hanoi

Upon arrival at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport, proceed to Arrival Hall A1 to meet the Star Travel representative.

Transfer to the hotel for check-in. Standard check-in time is from 2:00 PM; early check-in is subject to hotel availability and confirmation on arrival. The driver will wait for a maximum of one hour after the flight arrives.

The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2Day 2: Hanoi Full-Day City Tour (B/L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight in Hanoi

After breakfast, depart at approximately 8:30 AM for a full-day Hanoi city tour.

Visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum, followed by Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house. Continue to the One Pillar Pagoda, founded in 1049.

Visit Quan Thanh Temple and Tran Quoc Pagoda on West Lake, one of Vietnam’s oldest pagodas.

After lunch, visit the Ethnology Museum. Continue to the Temple of Literature and Quoc Tu Giam, Vietnam’s first university, built in 1070.

Take a leisurely walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and visit Ngoc Son Temple. End the day with a coach tour through Hanoi Old Quarter and free time for shopping.

Day 3Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay Overnight Cruise (B/L/D)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight on Cruise

After breakfast, check out and depart for Halong Bay. Arrive at Tuan Chau Marina and board the cruise, where you will meet the captain and crew and receive a welcome drink.

Check into the cabin and enjoy lunch while cruising through Halong Bay.

Visit Surprising Cave, one of the bay’s largest grottos, known for its stalactites and stalagmites. Continue to Titop Island, where you may swim or climb to the summit for panoramic views of Halong Bay.

Return to the cruise and sail to a quieter area of the bay. Enjoy a Sunset Party on the sundeck, followed by a cooking class and dinner onboard.

The evening is free for relaxing, socialising, playing board games or squid fishing. Overnight in an air-conditioned cabin with private bathroom facilities.

Day 4Day 4: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B/L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight in Hanoi

Enjoy breakfast onboard as the cruise heads towards the Natural Preservation Zone.

Take part in kayaking around Luon Cave, then return to the cruise to relax and prepare for check-out. Luggage can be stored onboard.

Continue cruising through the bay, passing Ba Hang Fishing Village, Dog Islet and other scenic formations. Enjoy lunch onboard before disembarking at Tuan Chau Marina between approximately 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM.

Return to Hanoi and enjoy free time at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 5Day 5: Hanoi – Departure (B)

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, enjoy free time before checking out from the hotel.

At the arranged time, transfer to Noi Bai International Airport for your departure flight home.

Booked 2, 2 day private tours and money was well spent. Private tours means you can where possible avoid crowds and gain entry and exit quicker. Hai and Lun who we had for both days were professional and very prompt. They also could read when our energy was getting low and adapted the tour to our needs. Also understood when to chat and not as we spent a few hours travel time in car. If you’re wanting to explore Hanoi and the outer areas of Hanoi spend the extra money and book through this company. Viator and other sites are good for quick trips but for longer trips use Indochina group who are very professional

We had the great pleasure of having Hai Nguyen as our guide on today’s Bai Dinh Pagoda–Trang An tour, organised by Indochina Travel Group, and he truly made the day special. We have done a private tour going to: HOA LU TEMPLE - MUA CAVE - TRANG AN Miami was our lovely tour guide. Her English was excellent and clear. She hosting us in the perfect possible way. We had a late arrival the day before and left us to rest during the 2,5 hour drive. Are there any age restrictions for this tour?

We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old to join the tour. Group members aged 16-17 years old are welcome to join the tour but only with a family member that will act as their guardian whilst on tour. Aside from that, no age requirements at all!
