Discover northern Vietnam’s most iconic landscapes on this 6-day journey through Hanoi, Halong Bay and Sapa. Experience Hanoi’s historic landmarks and local flavours before sailing among the limestone islands of Halong Bay on an overnight cruise.

Continue to the cool mountain scenery of Sapa, where you will visit Cat Cat Village and explore the culture of the Black Hmong community. Complete the trip with an unforgettable ascent to Fansipan, the Roof of Indochina, via the scenic Muong Hoa Mountain Railway and cable car.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1Day 1: Arrival Hanoi – Hanoi City Tour (L/D)

Meals: Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Hanoi

Upon arrival at Hanoi Airport, meet your guide and enjoy a local lunch featuring Hanoi favourites such as Pho or Banh Mi.

In the afternoon, discover the capital’s highlights, including Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ba Dinh Square, Ngoc Son Temple, Hanoi Old City Gate, Trainline Street, Hoan Kiem Lake, St. Joseph’s Cathedral and the Hanoi Opera House. Stroll through the lively Old Quarter and its famous 36 streets.

Enjoy a cup of traditional egg coffee before dinner, featuring Cha Ca Hanoi, the city’s signature grilled fish dish. Transfer to the hotel for check-in and overnight.

Day 2Day 2: Hanoi – Halong Bay Overnight Cruise (B/L/D)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Halong Bay Cruise

After breakfast, depart Hanoi for Tuan Chau Harbour via the new Hai Phong Expressway. Arrive at the cruise lounge, complete check-in procedures and board the Amanda Cruise.

Enjoy a welcome drink and settle into your cabin as the cruise sails through Halong Bay towards Luon Cave and Titop Island. Lunch is served on board while taking in the magnificent limestone scenery.

In the afternoon, visit Titop Island, where you may hike to the viewpoint or enjoy a swim. Continue to Sung Sot Cave, one of Halong Bay’s most impressive caves.

Later, join the sunset party and cooking class, where you can learn to prepare fresh spring rolls. Dinner is served on board, followed by evening activities such as herbal foot bathing, bamboo dancing, a heritage fashion presentation and squid fishing.

Day 3Day 3: Luon Cave – Halong Bay – Hanoi (B/L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight: Hanoi

Start the morning with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck, followed by a light breakfast. Travel by kayak or bamboo raft to explore Luon Cave and its peaceful surroundings of dramatic limestone formations.

Return to the cruise to relax, enjoy the herbal foot bath, sunbathe or take photographs. After an early buffet lunch and check-out, disembark at Tuan Chau Harbour.

Transfer back to Hanoi by luxury van. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 4Day 4: Hanoi – Sapa Valley – Cat Cat Village (B/L/D)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Sapa

Early in the morning, depart Hanoi for Sapa by coach. Travel along the highway through scenic northern landscapes before arriving in Sapa.

After hotel check-in and lunch, visit Cat Cat Village, home to the Black Hmong ethnic community. Enjoy a gentle walk through the village, observing local life, traditional weaving and the peaceful mountain setting.

Return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Sapa.

Day 5Day 5: Sapa – Sun World Fansipan Legend – Hanoi (B/L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight: Hanoi

After breakfast, walk to Sapa Town and Sun Plaza to board the Muong Hoa Mountain Railway. Continue to Sun World Fansipan Legend, where the journey includes the cable car, entrance admission and funicular ride to the summit of Fansipan.

Spend time enjoying the panoramic mountain views and attractions within the park. A buffet lunch is served at Van Sam Restaurant.

In the afternoon, return to Sapa before transferring by limousine van back to Hanoi. Check in to the hotel upon arrival.

Day 6Day 6: Departure Hanoi

Meals: Breakfast

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and free time at leisure until the scheduled transfer to Hanoi Airport for your onward flight.

Booked 2, 2 day private tours and money was well spent. Private tours means you can where possible avoid crowds and gain entry and exit quicker. Hai and Lun who we had for both days were professional and very prompt. They also could read when our energy was getting low and adapted the tour to our needs. Also understood when to chat and not as we spent a few hours travel time in car. If you’re wanting to explore Hanoi and the outer areas of Hanoi spend the extra money and book through this company. Viator and other sites are good for quick trips but for longer trips use Indochina group who are very professional

We have done a private tour going to: HOA LU TEMPLE - MUA CAVE - TRANG AN Miami was our lovely tour guide. Her English was excellent and clear. She hosting us in the perfect possible way. We had a late arrival the day before and left us to rest during the 2,5 hour drive. Arrived, she gave us much energy to during the tour and she easily joined us with the 500 steps stairs towards a beautiful view. A big shoutout to Miami and the driver!

Are there any age restrictions for this tour?

We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old to join the tour. Group members aged 16-17 years old are welcome to join the tour but only with a family member that will act as their guardian whilst on tour. Aside from that, no age requirements at all!
