Discover the lively culture, wartime history and river life of Southern Vietnam on this 5-day journey through Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. From the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels to the fruit orchards, canals and floating markets of My Tho, Ben Tre and Can Tho, the itinerary offers an engaging introduction to the region.

Begin with free time in Ho Chi Minh City, followed by an excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an important historical site from the Vietnam War. Continue into the Mekong Delta for boat journeys along natural canals, visits to local communities and an overnight stay in Can Tho.

The experience concludes with visits to Phong Dien and Cai Rang floating markets, a rice noodle-making village and the distinctive waterways of the delta before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1Day 1: Malaysia – Saigon Arrival

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

Arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Meet the driver and transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Standard check-in time is from 2:00 PM. Early check-in is subject to hotel availability and confirmation on arrival. The driver will wait for a maximum of one hour after the flight arrives.

The rest of the day is free at leisure. You may explore Ho Chi Minh City independently or choose from optional tours.

Day 2Day 2: Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels – Saigon (B)

Meals: Breakfast | Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast, transfer to the meeting point and join the shared tour to Cu Chi, located approximately 60 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

Explore the Cu Chi Tunnels, a remarkable underground network extending over 220 km. The area played an important role during the Vietnam War and remains one of Southern Vietnam’s most significant historical attractions.

Along the journey, observe the peaceful rural scenery of rice fields, ducks and water buffaloes, while learning about the area’s wartime history and the impact of bombing, mines and defoliation.

Return to Ho Chi Minh City for an overnight stay.

Day 3Day 3: Saigon – My Tho – Ben Tre – Can Tho (B/L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight in Can Tho

After breakfast, transfer to the meeting point and depart for My Tho.

Take a boat ride along the Bao Dinh natural canal, passing stilt houses and fruit plantations along the riverbanks. Visit the My Tho wholesale fruit market before continuing to Tortoise Island.

Enjoy lunch in the heart of an orchard.

Continue to Ben Tre for a boat ride along the Tan Thach natural canal, cruising beneath the shade of water coconut trees. Visit a local family to experience the agricultural lifestyle of the Mekong Delta.

Trek through fruit plantations on Thoi Son Island and enjoy a rowing boat ride along the small creeks before returning to My Tho by motorised boat.

Travel onwards to Can Tho via Vinh Long. Check in upon arrival and stay overnight in Can Tho City.

Day 4Day 4: Can Tho – Floating Markets – Saigon (B/L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast, take a morning boat trip to Phong Dien Floating Market and experience its active trading atmosphere.

Continue cruising through the delta’s narrow channel system. Visit a rice noodle-making village and experience the traditional “Monkey Bridge” of the Mekong Delta.

Proceed to Cai Rang Floating Market, another well-known market on the water. After lunch, return to Ho Chi Minh City via Trung Luong, with a stop at a flower garden along the way.

Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 5Day 5: Saigon

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, enjoy free time at leisure before checking out from the hotel. Standard check-out time is 12:00 PM; late check-out is subject to hotel confirmation.

At the arranged time, transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

 Verified Miami, SUPER host We have done a private tour going to: HOA LU TEMPLE - MUA CAVE - TRANG AN Miami was our lovely tour guide. Her English was excellent and clear. She hosting us in the perfect possible way. We had a late arrival the day before and left us to rest during the 2,5 hour drive.  Verified Perfect Ninh Binh day with Hai — Hoa Lu, Hang Mua & Trang An We did a private day tour with Hai covering Hoa Lu, Hang Mua Cave, and Trang An, and it was an excellent day. Hai was punctual, easy to talk to, and very well organized. At Hoa Lu he explained the history of the ancient capital clearly without making it feel like a lecture. At Hang Mua he paced the climb well, gave us time for photos at the viewpoint, and kept the visit comfortable. Trang An was the highlight — the boat ride through the caves and temples was beautiful, and Hai handled the timing and logistics smoothly so we didn’t feel rushed. What stood out most was how personal the day felt. Hai adjusted the schedule to us, made practical suggestions, and was patient and professional from start to finish. If you want to see Hoa Lu, Hang Mua, and Trang An in one day with a reliable private guide, we highly recommend Hai. We would book him again.

Are there any age restrictions for this tour?

We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old to join the tour. Group members aged 16-17 years old are welcome to join the tour but only with a family member that will act as their guardian whilst on tour. Aside from that, no age requirements at all!

Group tour and Private tour.
