DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Duong Lam Ancient Village - Hanoi Half Day City Tour (Lunch)
Timeline
- 08:00: Our tour guide and drive will pick you up from your hotel and transfer to Duong Lam ancient village. Set off from Hanoi after breakfast and travel west, passing through the scenic North Red River Delta on the 1.5-hour drive.
- 9:30: Arrive in Duong Lam ancient village, a purely agricultural village which was founded 1200 years ago. Take a walking tour through the village, experiencing the dramatic difference from Hanoi’s busy streets and Duong Lam’s tranquil pace. Explore Mong Phu commune house, built in the middle of the 16 century, then continue through the narrow alleys to see the old laterite traditional houses and the brick pathways which make up this charming village. Continue walking to Mia Pagoda (located in another hamlet of Duong Lam), built in the 15th century. Admire the 287 statues of all sizes can be seen here, among which are famous sculptures such as the statue of Buddha and the statues of the ‘Eight Vajra Deities’.
- 11:00 am: Comeback to Hanoi for lunch.
- 13:30: Firstly, continue to visit Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex – with a short walk in Ba Dinh Square, a historical place in 1945 Ho Chi Minh gave the Declaration of Independence founding the Democratic Republic Vietnam. On the way out visit One Pillar pagoda. The pagoda was constructed in 1049 by King Ly Thai Tong following his dream of Bodhisattva seating on a lotus flower and led him to a pagoda. The dream gave the King an ideal to design a Pagoda looked like a lotus popping up from the water, made it to be nowadays the most unique pagoda in Asia.
- We move on to the Temple of Literature. This is the combination of the Confucius Temple worshiping Confucius which was built in 1070 and the first Royal National University in Vietnam built in 1076. Considered as “an escape” from the bustling city, this temple and its beautiful garden provide an opportunity to learn more about education in Vietnam for 1000 years ago until recent history.
- Then we visit Hoan Kiem Lake (Restored Sword Lake), in the heart of Hanoi, the lake got its name according to a legend.
- End of day you will enjoy the egg coffee at the railway street and then come back to hotel.

Are there any age restrictions for this tour?
We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old to join the tour. Group members aged 16-17 years old are welcome to join the tour but only with a family member that will act as their guardian whilst on tour. Aside from that, no age requirements at all!
