Searches for affordable apartments in HCMC have yielded nothing under VND3 billion (US$119,580).
Bich Nguyen, an accountant for a food products supplier in the city’s District 1, has been looking for a two-bedroom apartment near downtown for nine months, but she hasn’t located her dream place on the primary market.

Although most of the residences she has seen cost more than VND2.5 billion, she claims that is her budget.

An Duong Vuong Street in Binh Tan District has apartments starting at VND2.8 billion for 48 square meters with one bedroom and VND3.1–3.3 billion for the lowest two-bedroom units, which are between 58 and 63 square meters.

All of the two-bedroom flats at a different location on Vo Van Kiet Street, which is close by, are more than VND3 billion.
